Alton is one of only two communities in the country to receive a grant from the American Water Charitable Foundation and the National Recreation and Park Association. It’s worth a quarter-million dollars and will eventually result in the creation of a splash pad in Riverfront Park.

According to information from the water company, the splash pad will overlook the river, allowing residents to enjoy water in a natural setting. This will also provide the opportunity to educate residents and visitors about water stewardship.
