The Village of Bethalto is hoping to provide a smoother ride on a portion of Prairie Street. Trustees approved an engineering contract with Oates & Associates that will pave the way for reconstruction of a portion of the road from Corbin Street to Dorothy. It will be split into to phases, with the first phase running from Corbin to Williams.
The work will include the repaving of the entire surface, and the installation of curb & gutters, and storm sewers. Bethalto Mayor Alan Winslow tells The Big Z Prairie Street has needed repairs for a long time.
