The annual Blessing of the Fleet is coming up Saturday on the Mississippi River. The procession begins from two different points around 1pm, with some boats coming from upstream and the others coming from downstream. The vessels will merge with an antique boat club at about 2:15 near the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rivers in Portage des Sioux, Missouri.
There will be several locations on both sides of the river where people can watch the procession. Organization President Darryll Weil tells The Big Z the post-event party includes awards and some interesting people-watching.

This is the 60th anniversary of the Blessing of the Fleet. After the parade, awards will be presented at Mike's LaRosa Cabana Bar at the My River Home Marina. Weil suggests watching from the area near the statue of Our Lady of the Shrine.
