The size of the Madison County Board will not be changing anytime soon.  During a special meeting on Tuesday, board members chose not to adopt a potential ballot question put forward by Board Chairman Kurt Prenzler to reduce the size of the board from 29 members.  That is the largest number of board members allowed by state law.

No member of the Madison County Board made a motion to adopt the advisory referendum which would have appeared on the April ballot.  Only three other counties have the maximum number of members…St. Clair, Sangamon, and LaSalle.  The size of the board can be reset if desired after each decennial U.S. census.
