While most elected officials say the Senate has a solemn duty to perform with the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump, there are those that say it is nothing more than an attempt by Democrats to remove the President from office. House Democrats laid out their opening arguments in the Senate trial, and the President’s team now has its turn to lay out its stance.
Even though many people expect Democrats to vote to remove Trump from office and Republicans to vote to leave him in, Illinois Congressman Mike Bost (R-Murphysboro) tells The Big Z it’s his hope the country can get past this divide.

The president's team then will have three days to present his defense. After that, Senators will have an opportunity to submit written questions to both sides. It is still unclear if four GOP senators will join Democrats in voting to allow new testimony.
