It was a cool, dry week for crops, as we hear in the weekly crop report. Corn is about on par with the five-year average, with 77% of the crop in the dough stage and 26% in the dent stage. The condition of the corn crop improved slightly to 62% in good to excellent condition.
State Crop Statistician Mark Schleusener says 97% of soybeans are blooming.

A third cutting of alfalfa is now 72% complete and 5% of sorghum is mature. Average statewide topsoil moisture dropped to 7% very short, 35% short, and 58% adequate.
