The State of Illinois is setting up free COVID-19 testing this weekend in Bethalto, but if you think you may have been around someone with the illness state health officials say wait a little before you get tested.  Illinois Department of Public Health Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike says most people will not start showing symptoms until about a week after exposure.

Ezike says if you feel you may have been exposed, wearing a mask and keep social distance, staying home as much as possible.  The Bethalto test site will be open to anyone, but it may take up to a week to get your results.

The test location is the Bethalto Christian Church, 724 E. Bethalto Boulevard from 8am to 4pm today and tomorrow (Fri-Sat).  The testing is open to adults and children over the age of 6 months.  It’s a nasal swab test, and you must have a valid phone number to receive your test results. Those with or without symptoms can get the test and masks must be worn while you wait.
