The Madison County Coroner's Office has identified a homeless man found in Alton Monday morning. 50-year-old David G. Pikey died under unusual circumstances, but not suspicious ones, according to the coroner's office. A cause of death has not been confirmed, pending the results of routine toxicology.
Pikey was found deceased in the 2,800 block of East Broadway near train tracks behind Bluff City Outdoors. It's an area where police say a group of homeless people occasionally congregate. He was originally from the Alton area, but had been living in Missouri for an undetermined amount of time before coming back to the region. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.
