October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and there is an event coming up today to promote domestic violence awareness. The Alton Police Department is promoting the 5th annual walk for awareness in Downtown Alton at the Liberty Bank Alton Amphitheater.

It costs $10 to participate, $5 for students, and with proceeds going to support various groups that combat domestic violence. Check in is at the Amphitheater at 5:30, with activities to begin at 6:30. For more information, call 463-3505.
