The Alton City Council Committee of the Whole should soon know how much of the bill FEMA will put toward the repair of the wall on Riverview Drive. The city continues to meet with the agency in their pursuit of disaster assistance. Once it is known what FEMA will pay, the city can then make a decision on what fix to pursue.

The wall borders the edge of the bluffs, and erosion in the area has caused cracking and shifting to occur. In other business, demolition proceedings were tentatively approved for structures at 1117 E. 6th Street and 842/844 Washington Avenue. The full council will consider these and other items at tomorrow (Wednesday) night’s meeting.
