Lewis and Clark Community College will celebrate the dedication of a state historical marker honoring a man who played a pivotal role in the history of education in Alton.  Scott Bibb fought the segregation of Alton Schools from 1897-1908.  He won all five cases that made it to the Illinois Supreme Court.

Located at the corner of 5th Street and Central Avenue, College Vice President of Academic Affairs Linda Chapman, tells The Big Z the dedication ceremony will be held at the center from 2-4pm today.

A couple of years ago the Illinois Supreme Court wanted to shine a light on some of the pivotal cases throughout its history, and out of that program, the Scott Bibb Center came to be.  The center is located at 1004 East Fifth Street in Alton.
