Get ready to pay more for a gallon of gas if you fuel up in Illinois. On Monday, July 1, the state's gas tax will double from 19 cents a gallon to 38 cents a gallon. One local businessman says this will have a major impact on retailers in border communities such as the Riverbend.
While they don't have any retail locations anymore, Piasa Motor Fuels sells to retailers on both sides of the River. President Matt Schrimpf tells The Big Z he thinks the business they do with retailers in Missouri will pick up significantly.

he thinks more and more people will start taking advantage of the cheaper prices in Missouri. Schrimpf says he always thinks its worthwhile to communicate with your elected officials, and would encourage anyone with concerns to do so.
