Now entering it's tenth year, the annual Edwardsville Rotary Criterium Festival is this afternoon and evening in downtown Edwardsville. The event has grown each year to the point where organizers recently changed the name to the Edwardsville Rotary Criterium Festival. It's gotten a little bigger this year, with an Olympic champion booked to participate.

Race Director Brian Mulhall tells The Big Z Jackie Joyner-Kersee will serve as the official starter for the foot race - the Downtown Dash - at 6pm.

The event will also be dedicated to the memory of Edwardsville Rotarian Lois Ladd and her husband Mike. The two were killed during a robbery at their home in March. Rotary members will be wearing tie-dye t-shirts in their honor. The racing will take place downtown near the courthouse, and vehicle traffic will be detoured before and during the event. Racing starts at 3pm, and runs until 11pm, weather permitting. For details check out http://criteriumedwardsville.com/
