An effort to donate sports and musical equipment that has expanded to seven children’s homes in three states is now more than a decade old, and a concert to celebrate the effort is being held Saturday. “Something Bigger Than Yourself” is the name of the effort that raises money to buy sports and music equipment for the kids.
Founder Jay Lipe tells The Big Z the free concert will be held all day - from 2pm to 1am at Roper's Regal Beagle in Godfrey.
This is the 11th year for the effort, and Lipe says they have donated to 14 children's homes, 7 retirement homes, and given guitars and skateboards to terminally ill children across the United States during that time.
