With the passage of two ordinances, Godfrey Township is no more. The village and township governments have been working to finalize the move since shortly after last November's election, when 63% of votes cast were to get rid of the township. The ordinances passed call on the village to assume the function and duties of the township, and specifically, to assume General Assistance responsibilities.
The village also approved the 2019-20 budget and appropriation ordinance before the sitting board adjourned for the final time, and the new board was sworn in. The new board looks much like the previous one, with the exception of Virginia Woulfe-Beile taking the seat of Joe Springman. The new board voted on a handful of non-controversial items, including the creation of a stormwater committee, which Woulfe-Beile told the Big Z she would like to be seated on:
