The partnership between Alton Square Mall and OSF HealthCare should ramp up in the coming months, as construction on a new rehab facility to be owned by OSF should begin in the coming months. It will be a 12,000 square-foot facility. Of that, about 10,000 square feet will be dedicated to physical, occupational, and speech rehab, with the other 2,000 geared toward homecare and hospice services.
OSF HealthCare President and CEO Ajay Pathak tells The Big Z this is part of their plan to expand access to care for people closer to where they live and recreate.

The other aspect is to partner with the community to drive economic development and foot traffic to the mall. The investment of up to $2 million dollars will accommodate occupational, physical, and speech therapy, with space for expanded pediatric therapy. Pathak says if all goes according to plan, they hope to be open and seeing patients there by the fall.
