Residents of Wood River approved a 1% municipal service occupation tax earlier this year that will apparently help fund a new community center where the Aquatic Center once stood. Following a work session earlier this week, the Wood River City Council is moving ahead with a plan to build the center on the property.
Wood River Mayor Cheryl Maguire tells The Big Z the original plan has evolved over the last 6 months or so.

The window to apply for that grant only lasts for about a month, and the city council is expected to give the go-ahead to apply for it on Monday night. Maguire says they are just in the beginning stages of putting this all together, so a timeline to break ground has not been discussed.
