Eileen June Wagner, 90, died at 1:15 a.m. Sunday, January 15, 2017 at University Nursing and Rehab in Edwardsville. Born June 6, 1926 in Alton, she was the daughter of Victor and Grace (Unterbrink) Yaeger. Mrs. Wagner was a bank teller for Wedge Bank and also the Bank of Alton for over 10 years. An active member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Godfrey, she sang in the church choir for over 20 years and was involved in the youth fellowship as the director. On July 26, 1948 she married Wesley C. Wagner Sr. in Alton. He preceded her in death on January 6, 2001. Surviving is a son, Wesley C. Wagner Jr. of Edwardsville and three grandchildren, Jennifer Wagner, Christopher Wagner and Andrea Wagner and her husband Anthony Miller, all of Edwardsville. Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Victor “Bud” Yaeger, and a sister, Eleanor Engleman. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2017. Reverend Jerry MeCaskey will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to the Evangelical United Church of Christ.
