Christina “Robin” Wallace, age 62, of Alton, passed away Friday, January 27, 2017 at her home.
She was born June 12, 1954, in Wood River, the daughter of Samuel D. and Priscilla (Davis) Gehrke.
Robin previously worked as a legal secretary before becoming disabled. She enjoyed playing bingo and met many friends along the way. She was also a “Grey’s Anatomy” fanatic , who watched every episode multiple times. Robin’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She would spend countless hours making picture collages on her phone for a loved one’s birthday, or for no other reason than she was just thinking about them. Robin will be remembered as a selfless, strong, courageous woman who always thought of others before herself, and had a deep-seated faith in Jesus Christ.
She is survived by two children, Amanda Wallace of Alton, and Gene and Erica Wallace II of Wood River, IL; two grandchildren, Taryn J. Wallace and Van R. Wallace; a sister, Penny Lorton of O’Fallon, MO; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Howard Gehrke; a brother in law Tom Lorton; and a sister, Beverly Mattingly.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 3, 2017, from 5:00 pm until a Celebration of Life service at 6:00 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton with Pastor Daryl Dolbee officiating.
