Jean Macbeth-Vogt, 96, died at 6:00 p.m. Monday, August 14, 2017 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born April 5, 1921 in Cape Girardeau, MO, she was the daughter of Jessie and Mary (Lincecum) Strong. In addition to being a housewife and mother, she sold Avon cosmetics for 30 years and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Alton. She married Robert Wallace Macbeth on May 29, 1950. He preceded her in death on August 20, 1977. She then married Henry Vogt on September 25, 1982. He preceded her on October 26, 1995. Surviving are two daughters, Mary Martha Flamini (Chuck) of Springfield, IL, and Glenda Foster (Bobby) of East Alton, a grand daughter, Tonya Douglas (Brandon) of Pittsfield, IL, three great granddaughters, Annabella, Ava, and Aubree Douglas. Also surviving is a step-son, Tom Vogt, a step-daughter, Michelle Morris (David), and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles L. Strong and a step-son, Lynn Vogt. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 18, 2017 at Gent Funeral home in Alton. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro, IL. Reverend Andre’ Dobson will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or the Epilepsy Foundation.
