Margaret Elizabeth (nee, Spann) Plank, 92, beloved mother and an angel on this earth, was called home August 11, 2017.
Born in Hartford on October 10, 1924, she was the daughter of John Robert and Lola Ethel (Brewer) Spann.
As a young girl, she attended Woodrow Wilson School; following graduation from high school, she went to work for the Olin Corporation during World War II in the 1940's.
She was a kind, loving woman, devoted wife and mother. She loved gardening, crafts, BINGO and spending time with all of her family.
She married Thomas E. Plank, Sr. on August 4, 1945, resided in Wanda, Arkansas, Missouri and then settled back to Illinois, in Alton before his death.
She will forever be remembered and hold a special place in our hearts through eternity.
Surviving are six children, Dennis (Terri) Plank of Arizona, Karen Sue Perez of Alton, Sandy (Rick) Vail of North Carolina, Darrell (Robin) Plank of East Alton, Roxanne (David) Laughlin of Texas, Tom (Toni) Plank of Kentucky; 12 grandchildren, Jim Hemberger, Chris Plank, Alison Beachum, Mateo Perez, Andrea Vail Coltrain, Kayla Vail Adams, Mandy Bennett, Thomas Jakober, Amy Laughlin, Tommy Lee Plank, Ladonna Lyons, Josh Plank; 17 great grandchildren, Quinn, Diego, Morgon, Tori, Austin, Ellie, Taylor, Elizabeth, Maddie, Jacob, Will, Emma, Gwennie, Tommy, Kayley and Lilly; and a sister, Evelyn Howland
Her parents; husband; two grandsons, Ron Perez and Steve Hemberger; five brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
She will always be remembered as a compassionate, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
Private services and vurial will be in Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.
Marks Mortuary in Wood River is in charge of arrangements.
