Bobby VanDeusen

Bobby Lee VanDeusen, 65, passed away at 3:20pm on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at his residence.  He was born on February 18, 1952, in Vinton, Iowa, the son of Mabel (Brooks) Chestnut of Carlinville and the late Robert C. VanDeusen.  He married the former Donna Yaw on October 16, 1972, in Gridley, California, and she survives.  Other survivors include three daughters and sons in law: Rhonda and John Angel of Marble Hill, Missouri, Lori and Nicholas Milazzo of Aledo, Texas, April and David Baker of Christopher, Illinois, ten grandchildren: Shawn and Jessie VanDeusen, Kyle Angel, Kristy and Jared Mayfield, Alyssa, Lola, Adra, Gavino Milazzo, Marissa and Abby Phillips, Caleb Baker, three great grandchildren: Connor, Jackson, Penelope, two sisters and brothers in law: Mary Lou and Ron Lovell of Springfield, Illinois, Patsy Sue and Jim Stephens of Meadowbrook, a step – sister: Sarah Jane Roose of Alton, two step – brothers: Elmer Chestnut of Bunker Hill, Donald and Vickie Chestnut of Bunker Hill, and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.

 

Bobby was formerly employed at Union Tank Car Company as an area manager for twenty years.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting.  He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served in Vietnam.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his step – dad: Elmer Chestnut, and a step – brother: Stephen Chestnut.

In celebration of his life, memorial visitation will be from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River.  Memorial services will be held at 4pm.  Full military honors will be conducted by the Ritual Team of VFW Post 1308 of Alton at 2pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life Riverbend and will be accepted at the funeral home.
