Tom Renken, 52, passed away at 8:37pm on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at his residence of an apparent heart attack. He was born on November 1, 1965, in Alton, the son of Walter and Tammy (Poe) Renken. He married the former Christy Probst on April 20, 1996, in Jerseyville, and they later divorced. Tom is survived by his father and step – mom: Walter and Margaret Renken of Alton, his mom and step – dad: Tammy Renken and Ron Thorp of Rosewood Heights, his former wife: Christy Renken of Jerseyville, his two sons: Derek Renken of Jerseyville, Zach Renken of Jerseyville, three brothers and two sisters in law: Scott and Linda Renken of Oakville, Missouri, Kenneth Renken of Creve Couer, Missouri, John and Jessica Renken of Ballwin, Missouri, a half – sister and brother in law: Martha and Alex Pfister of Chicago, his girlfriend: Tammy Hatcher of Godfrey, his uncle and aunt: Kenneth and Sherry Poe of Gonzalez, Texas, his aunt and uncle: Harriet and David Schmick of Salisbury, Maryland, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends.
Tom was employed at Community Wholesale Tire as a warehouse foreman for twenty – five years. He loved working at Community Wholesale Tire and his co – workers loved him. He enjoyed fishing, shooting, and hunting. Tom was a veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1985 to 1991.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 5pm to 9pm on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at the funeral home. Rev. Royce Roy will officiate. Burial with full military honors will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the 5A’s and will be accepted at the funeral home.
