Francis Hudanick

Francis Borgia “Frank” Hudanick, 90, of Alton passed away Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Jerseyville Manor.He was born October 11, 1927 in Wood River, IL to William C. and Theresa (Slosareik) Hudanick.  On November 22, 1958, he married Nancy C. Weirich in Alton, IL.  She preceded him in death on March 26, 1996. Frank, a Veteran of the Korean War, served in the United States Army from 1950 – 1952 and was in the Clearing Company of the 120th Medical Battalion of the 45th Infantry Division.  For over 31 years, he worked as a data processor at Owens-Illinois Glass Company.  He retired upon the plant’s closure in 1983. Frank met his wife, Nancy, while working for Owens-Illinois and they were married for 38 years, raising six children. Together, they spent many years volunteering their time at St. Mary’s Grade School and Marquette High School, and cheering on their kids in countless ball games.Frank was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton and for years led the St. Vincent DePaul Society.  He enjoyed reading books by his favorite Russian authors, cooking chili and playing catch in the backyard.  Any day that could be spent sharing a drink with family and friends was a good day.He is survived by six children, Jim (Lana) Hudanick of O’ Fallon, MO, Richard Hudanick of Washington, MO, Mary (Todd) Segneri of Alton, Robert (Tammy) Hudanick of Alton, Sue (Jeff) Dzyacky of Chicago, and Brittany (John) Palmer of Chicago; nine grandchildren, Melina, Natalie, Jacob, Joseph, Jack, Lily, Spencer, Miranda, and Madelyn; and one brother, Joseph Hudanick of Wood River, Il.  Frank was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy; a daughter, Patricia Hudanick; and a sister, Ann Hudanick.  Visitation will be held Saturday, July 14, 2018 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton.  A funeral mass will take place at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  Burial will follow at Saint Joseph’s Cemetery.Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.Condolences may be made online at www.staten-fine.com
