Gerald Edward “Ed” Anders, 83, died at 10:08 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. 

Born February 25, 1941 in Winchester, IL, he was the son of Ralph and Mildred (Davis) Anders. Mr. Anders served in Vietnam with the U.S. Army. He retired as a crane operator for Laclede Steel in Alton.

On January 29, 1982 he married the former Mary E. Carver in Godfrey. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Lisa Jones (Kenneth) of Brighton and Shellie Cougill-Rue of Brighton, one step-daughter, Melissa Bourland of Alton and two step-sons, Raymond Bourland of Florida and William Bourland of New Lenox, IL, six grandchildren, Zachary Cline, Seth Cline, Bailey Watson, Tyler Edwards, Drake Radcliff and Mason Cougill, two great granddaughters, and one great grandson. 

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Anders, a step-daughter, Elizabeth Cline and a sister, Beverly Anders.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey with full military honors. Reverend John Oswald will officiate.
