Daryl Wayne "Duke" Harris, 80, died at 1:57 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2024 at his home in Bethalto. Born June 22, 1943, in Chicago, he was the son of LeRoy and Anna (Bastien) Harris. He retired as a real estate agent. On June 5, 1965, he married the former Deatra Wortman in East St. Louis, IL. She survives. Also surviving are four sons, Daryl Smith (Cheryl) of Iowa, Charles Harris (Elaine) of Texas, Wayne Harris of Godfrey, and Lance Harris (Sarah Nelson) of Alton, one daughter-in-law, Tina Harris of Godfrey, seven grandchildren, Sammy, Laura, Ryan, Lucy, Autumn, Dustin and Aschley, and six great grandchildren, Marley, Alyia, Braylin, Mayilyn, Bobby and Peyton. He is also survived by three sisters, Ruth King of Mississippi, Dale Morgan of O’Fallon, IL, and Marsha Jones of Murphysboro, IL. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Craig Harris, a brother, Arthur Harris and a sister, Sherry Harris. A celebration of life service will be from 12:00 noon - 4:00 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the Fosterburg Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrier Project.
