Joseph Oros

Hartford 06/22/2024

Joseph William Oros, 75, passed away at 2:15 p.m., Saturday, June 22, 2024, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Granite City, Illinois on July 17, 1948, and was the son of Alex and Eunice (Drews) Oros.

After graduating from East Alton-Wood River Community High School, Joe enlisted with the United States Marine Corps. He completed basic training at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, California. He then served in the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1968, where he was wounded in battle, receiving a Purple Heart for his injuries, and was honorably discharged.

He was formerly a Police Officer in both East Alton and Marine, Illinois; but it was working on the family farm with his parents and his two sons, Jake and Joey, that he cherished the most.

Joe was a proud member of the National Rifle Association, and enjoyed deer and duck hunting, fishing, gardening, and red angus cattle. He was exceptionally funny and loved to tell a good story. His sense of humor and witty personality is unforgettable to many. His true joy was spending time with his grandchildren, who will miss him dearly.

He is survived by his four children and their spouses, Jaymie (Paul) Tebbe of Pocahontas, Jake (Mary) Oros of Hettick, Joey (Kelly) Oros of Hartford, and Jennifer (Angelina) Kuleff of Phoenix, Arizona; his grandchildren, Jade Oros, Mira Oros, Ava Oros, Meah Oros, Josh Tebbe, Blake Tebbe, Maddey Tebbey, Blaze Hall and Jaelyn Kuleff; and a great grandchild, Braxton Tebbe; as well as a sister, Judith (David) Stukenberg of St. Louis, Missouri.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Calvary Cemetery in Edwardsville. In honor of his service to his country, military gravesite rites will be conducted.

Memorials may be given to the Wood River VFW Post 2859, in care of Crawford Funeral Home, 1308 State Highway 109, Jerseyville, IL 62052, who has been entrusted with the arrangements.
