
ALTON — Soccer fever is coming to Alton as Student Athletes Leading Tomorrow (SALT) and STL CITY SC bring an exciting afternoon of soccer, community, and World Cup excitement to Rock Spring Park on Friday, July 10, 2026.

As part of STL CITY SC's region-wide 40 Days of Soccer celebration, families, fans, and aspiring players of all ages are invited to enjoy a free community soccer festival featuring interactive games, learning opportunities, free food trucks, and a special World Cup Quarterfinal Watch Party on a large outdoor screen.
The event will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Rock Springs Park, 2116 College Avenue in Alton, Illinois, and is open to the general public. The quarterfinals watch party and StL CITY soccer sessions will begin at 2:00 p.m. While everyone is welcome, many of the activities are designed specifically for youth players and families, with programming geared toward children up to age 16.
Attendees can expect a high-energy afternoon packed with soccer-themed fun, including:
• A live World Cup Quarterfinal Watch Party
• Meet-and-greet opportunities with STL CITY SC coaches and staff
• FUN-paced, small-sided pickup games
• Soccer tennis
• Table soccer competitions
• Skill challenges & contests
• One or more local food trucks
• Free soccer activities for kids and families
The event is part of STL CITY SC's mission to bring "the beautiful game" to every corner of the St. Louis region through 40 consecutive days of soccer-focused experiences that help people play, connect, and celebrate together. The Summer of Soccer initiative features watch parties, street soccer, community events, youth activities, and family-friendly experiences designed to make soccer accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
"Soccer is more than a game—it's a way to bring communities together," said SALT director, Damian Jones. "We're excited to welcome families from Alton and throughout the Riverbend area for an afternoon of soccer, friendship, and World Cup excitement. Whether you're stepping onto the field, competing in a challenge, or cheering on your favorite team during the quarterfinal match, there will be something for everyone."
The event is free to attend and no prior soccer experience is required. Participants are encouraged to bring friends, family, and their love for the game as Alton joins the region- wide celebration of what promises to be an unforgettable Summer of Soccer.
