ALTON - Dozens of demonstrators gathered Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Lincoln-Douglas Square in Alton for a "No Kings" peaceful protest aimed at opposing what they described as authoritarian leadership and criticizing President Donald Trump.

It was estimated that more than 200 people participated in the "No Kings" protest. Participants carried signs and American flags under the message “No Kings,” assembling around the historic site and spreading across nearby sidewalks and streets. The crowd maintained what was described as a calm and orderly presence.

Some passing drivers honked their horns and waved, signaling visible support from the broader community.

After the Alton rally concluded, many participants continued to a second demonstration in Edwardsville, extending the day’s turnout.

Organizers and attendees framed the events as pro-democracy demonstrations focused on civic engagement and constitutional values.
