Fox and EHS athletic director Amy Boscolo represented the school at a press conference designed to promote the event July 13, 2026, at the Holiday Inn Express hotel in Edwardsville, located next door to the tennis center, and in an interview conducted after the conference, talked about how he and the school was looking forward to hosting the event for the 15th consecutive year, not counting the 2020 tournament, which was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"It's a great event," Fox said, "we look forward to hosting it, we assist in any way we can, and we view it as a world-class event in tennis, and that's how we approach it. So, we're excited to welcome the players, officials, and visitors to the district."
It's also the only tournament of its kind to be played at a high school facility in the nation, which is a big feather in District 7's cap as well.
"Obviously, to be one of the few, or the only high school that hosts an event of this magnitude is special," Principal Fox said. "It's an opportunity to showcase our district from the academic side, to the athletic and performing arts. So anytime you can do that for the public. It's something we look forward to doing."
On a personal level, being able to host a big event each summer such as the Futures means a great deal to the principal.
"I just think having been out there and seeing the players play is outstanding to be able to watch the quality of tennis that you see," Fox said. "And then, also, just to be able to see folks on your home court that will eventually play at these prestigious events like the U.S. Open and Wimbledon, and personally, it just makes you feel pretty special."
Of course, Fox is looking forward to this year's tournament, and invited fans from all over to attend the matches and have a look at the facilities.
"I can't wait to get out there," Fox said, "and we are looking forward to it. I hope the weather's good, and we hope for some cool days and some exciting tennis this year."
