
VENICE - Jason McCallum was charged Monday in Madison County with two counts of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Travion Sherrodd, who was found May 26 in a vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head at the intersection of Market Street and Selb Street in Venice.

Venice police responded to a reported shooting at the intersection on May 26, 2026. According to the charging document, officers found Sherrodd unresponsive in a vehicle with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Sherrodd was taken to SLU Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Officers located 17 shell casings on the street, and Sherrodd’s car had been struck 16 times, according to the charging document.
A witness reported hearing multiple gunshots and then seeing a Chevy Impala leave the scene at a high rate of speed.
According to the charging document, McCallum was observed on surveillance footage at a nearby convenience store shortly before the shooting with a firearm featuring an extended magazine in his waistband.
The car was also seen on a license plate reader camera in the area immediately before the shooting.
