Ferguson placed seventh in the boys 13-14 50-yard freestyle, sixth in the 50-yard backstroke and fifth in the 50-yard butterfly. He closed his program by swimming third on the 13-18 200-yard freestyle relay team, which finished fourth.
After his heat in the backstroke, Ferguson said he felt he had performed well during the meet and had helped his team in its championship effort.
“I think I’ve done really well,” Ferguson said.
Ferguson said his season in the pool went well and that the 50-yard freestyle or 50-yard breaststroke were his best events. He said he still sees room to improve.
“I should just practice more,” Ferguson said.
The summer season is the only time of year Ferguson swims, and he said he enjoys competing for Montclaire.
“I feel like I did really well, overall,” Ferguson said. “It’s my favorite swim club to swim in.”
Ferguson also plays baseball, runs track and field, plays volleyball and basketball, and is hopeful for success in those sports. He also hopes to earn a scholarship to swim in college if the other sports he plays do not work out.
