Montclaire's Kyla Calvin, Meredith Luitjohan, Gators' Brinley Presson and Claire Berger Lead Their Girls' Team Efforts

EDWARDSVILLE - The girls' team at Collinsville Swim Club swam very well and won their division over Montclaire Swim Club of Edwardsville at the annual Southwestern Illinois Swimming Association championship meet Sunday, July 19, 2026, with the Marlins hosting the meet at the Chuck Fruit Aquatic Center on the campus of Edwardsville High School.

It was Montclaire, however, who won the overall championship at the annual season-ending meet for SWISA.

Kyla Calvin was again a standout for Montclaire in the 15-18-year-old division. In the 15-18 age group, Calvin of the Marlins won the 100-yard freestyle at 55.48 seconds, while Calvin also won the 100-yard individual medley at 1:07.07, the Gators' Brinley Presson won the 50-yard freestyle at 26.24 seconds, the 50-yard backstroke also went to Presson at 30.17 seconds, teammate Claire Berger won the 50-yard breaststroke at 36.59 seconds, and the 50-yard butterfly was won by Calvin at 28.36 seconds.

The Marlins' Meredith Luitjohan had a strong meet again as she has all season in the SWISA Championships. In the nine-and-10-year-old category, Meredith Luitjohan won the 100-yard freestyle at 1:09.77, with the Montclaire team of Lennon Moszer, Layla Sweet, Luitjohan and Lily Haskell winning the 100-yard medley relay at 1:12.64, while Luitjohan winning the 100-yard individual medley at 1:22.04, Sweet won the 50-yard freestyle at 33.12 seconds, then won the 50-yard backstroke at 37.63 seconds, making it three in a row with a win in the 50-yard breaststroke at 44.19 seconds, Luitjohan won the 50-yard butterfly at 36.93 seconds, and the Marlins' team of Moszer, Haskell, Olivia Largent, and Luitjohan won the 100-yard freestyle relay at 1:15.57.

The Gators won the girls title with 941.5 points, with the Marlins coming in second at 892.5 points. Summers Port Swim Club of Godfrey was third at 791 points, Paddlers Swim Club of Granite City took fourth with 596 points, and Sunset Hills Country Club of Edwardsville was fifth with 299 points.

Overall, Montclaire won the title with 1,916,5 points, with Collinsville in second at 1,697,5 points, the Sharks were third at 1,614 points, the Pirates finished fourth at 1,018 points, and the Stingrays finished fifth with 337 points.

In the race results on the day, starting with the eight-and-under age group, Caroline Newman of the Marlins won the 50-yard freestyle at 44.89 seconds, with the Summers Port team of Sophie Grant, Sloane Cooper, Addison Rogers, and Emma Kane winning the 100-yard medley relay at 1:48.24, Ivy Kamp of Collinsville winning the 25-yard freestyle at 19.83 seconds, Rogers winning the 25-yard backstroke at 25.45 seconds, Newman winning the 25-yard breaststroke at 26.91 seconds, Montclaire's Dylan Fox winning the 25-yard butterfly at 23.94 seconds, and the 100-yard freestyle relay team of Newman Stevie Rives, Ryan Seay, and Fox winning for the Marlins at 1:33.79.

In the 11-and-12-year-old races, the Stingrays' Hildi Deist won her team's first championship in the 100-yard freestyle at 1:03.64, while the Gators' team of Josie Forman, Elliot Stolle, Taylor Nanney, and Julia Berger won the 200-yard medley relay at 2:16.70, with Forman winning the 100-yard individual medley at 1:07.84, Forman won her second event of the day with a win in the 50-yard freestyle at 28.21 seconds, the 50-yard backstroke went to Nanney at 34.84 seconds, Forman won the 50-yard breaststroke at 35.14 seconds, then won the 50-yard butterfly at 32.64 seconds, and Berger, Macy Copeland, Nanney, and Forman won the 200-yard freestyle relay at 2:02,57.

In the 13-and-14 division, Alexandra Suhre of Paddlers won the title with a time of 56.31 seconds, with Suhre following up with a win in the 100-yard individual medley at 1:02.04, Avery Finch of Collinsville won the 50-yard freestyle at 29.86 seconds, Aster Carson of Sunset Hills won the 50-yard backstroke at 33.26 seconds, the 50-yard breaststroke went to Suhre at 31.33 seconds, and the Gators' Annie Tucker won the 50-yard butterfly at 34.53 seconds.

In a pair of 13-18-year old relay races, the 200-yard medley relay went to the Collinsville team of Presson, Berger, Averie Stolle, and Vivian Cross at 2:06.95 while the 200-yard freestyle relay was won by the Gators' team of Cross, Avery Finch, Berger, and Presson at 1:49.85.
