About Us

August 1948 was a busy month for Chester Rull. A tornado had hit Bunker Hill's hardware store that Spring, and Chester opened Rull Hardware with the salvaged merchandise. While getting his store ready to open for business, he found time to marry his wife, Dorothy, who quit her job to pitch in with the venture.

Chester started his propane business a year later in 1949, servicing customers from his hardware store. Back then service meant that customers were treated like family. Today, Chester's sons, Stan and Steve, work by the same principles that their father believed in - friendly, reliable, safe service and only the best product. That's how Rull Bros has become the most-trusted name in the local propane industry.

In 1985 the Rulls expanded into Calhoun County by acquiring an office in Hardin, IL . They soon found out that Chester's principles were also appreciated by their newly acquired customer base while creating a strong loyalty with Rull Bros.

With two locations in Illinois, Rull Bros serves the counties of Calhoun, Jersey, Greene, Madison, and Macoupin. Our customers are important to us, not just because they are our business, but because they are our neighbors.
