MCHS aims to "Open Doors to Madison County History," fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of the region's heritage.

Our Offerings

• Museum and Archival Library: Located in the historic 1836 Weir House, the museum showcases period-furnished rooms, antiques, quilts, historic costumes, and exhibits of Native American and pioneer artifacts. Adjacent to the museum, the archival library houses over 4,000 reference sources, including early county histories, biographies, local histories, and more, primarily pertaining to Madison County and neighboring regions.

• Events and Programs: MCHS hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including speaker series, literary salons, and exhibitions.
