Working Towards a Cure "Bra Smash"

About this event

Working Towards a Cure will host their 1st Annual Bra Smash at the Pump House, 1523E Edwardsville Rd., Wood River, IL  from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.  There will be a Bra Decorating contest with judging beginning at 3 p.m.  Prizes will be awarded in several categories.  Representatives from the organization will be there to answer questions, accept donations of bras or cash and hand out registration forms for this year's Bra Walk on October 5 at the Liberty Bank Alton Amphitheater.

 

Working Towards a Cure is also collecting used bras in their attempt to make "The World's Largest Ball made of Bras"  The currect record holder is the City of Baltimore with 5 feet.  They used over 19,000 bras to make their ball.  Working Towards a Cure.  Julie Fraser, chairperson said, "we're really going to need the community's help to beat Baltimore.  Our goal is 6 feet,"  Collection barrels will be located around the area collecting those donated bras.  Currently there are barrels at Kristen's Hair Studio in Wood River, The Pump House in Wood River.  Check out our website www.workingtowardsacure.com for locatuions of additional barrels and bra decorating ideas.  We will also be accepting bras at 151 W Airline Drive, East Alton.  Bras will be accepted at any event that Working Towards a Cure will be present at. 

 

Working Towards a Cure is a local not for profit, volunteer organization that pays for things that insurance will not pay for, for local breast cancer patients, during treatment.  .  Application for assistance are also available on their website.
