About this event

The 2019 St. Louis Walk for PKD is Sunday, October 13 at Tower Grove Park, Sons of Rest Pavilion, St. Louis, Missouri. The park main entrance is off of South Grand Boulevard and between Magnolia Avenue and Arsenal Street. Check-in or registration is from 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM, with walking the 1.5-mile flat route beginning at 11:00 AM. Bottle water, bagels, apples, and cookie will be provided. Visit: https://www.walkforpkd.org/stlouis to register or donate on-line.

Penny Kids Dash is at 10:30 AM. Penny Kids Dash is a way for kids to get involved. The kids may do extra chores around the house, host a lemonade stand, or sell their old toys in a garage sale. Kids 12 and under bring in money and donate it to the PKD Foundation so they can participate in the race.

The annual Walk for PKD is the signature fundraising and public awareness event for the PKD Foundation - St. Louis Chapter. There are hundreds of thousands in America and millions worldwide who have polycystic kidney disease (PKD).

100% of each donation funds life-saving research. Walk with us so we can bring treatments to patients faster.

About PKD: PKD is a life-threatening genetic kidney disease which causes cysts to grow in the kidneys, eventually leading to kidney failure. Once a person has kidney failure, transplant or dialysis are the only options to treat the damage the disease has caused. Parents with the disease have a 50 percent chance of passing it on to each of their children. Approximately 10 percent of the people diagnosed with PKD have no family history of the disease, with PKD developing as a spontaneous (new) mutation. A relatively rare form of PKD, autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease (ARPKD), affects approximately 1 in 20,000 children, and often causes death in the first month of life.

About the St. Louis PKD Chapter: We meet in Webster Groves, Missouri, the 2ndMonday of the month unless there is a conflict or winter break. We are a positive group which provides support, education, advocacy, and fundraising opportunities to PKD patients and their families. Visit https://www.pkdcure.org/chapter/st-louis/.

About the PKD Foundation: The PKD Foundation is the only organization in the United States solely dedicated to finding treatments and a cure for PKD to improve the lives of those it affects. We do this through promoting research, support, education, advocacy, and awareness. Our goal is that one day no one will suffer the full effects of PKD. For more information about PKD and the PKD Foundation, visit https://www.pkdcure.org or call 1.800.PKD.CURE (753.2873).
