Ghosts of Christmas Past

Journey to Christmases past at the 1820 Col. Benjamin Stephenson House during this one-night-only event. ‘Ghost’ guides (dressed in white) lead small groups through six different historical vignettes that occurred at Stephenson House during the families’ 14-year residency. Presented as a theater in the round, visitors witness the complicated histories involving family drama, current events, and politics that made up the Stephenson’s world. See events in the 1820s kitchen, servants’ quarters, parlor, dining room, master bedroom, and children’s bedroom. In order to keep visitors and staff safe, tours begin every 20-minutes with groups limited to six individuals (from different households). Larger groups, of no more than 10, can be accommodated but special arrangements need to be made with the site. The first tour begins at 5:00 p.m. and our last tour is at 8:40 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person and must be purchased in advance here (https://stephensonhouse.org/online-store/ols/products/ghosts-of-christmases-past) or by calling the site at 618-692-1818.

NOTE: Visitors need to arrive 10-minutes prior to the start of their tour time. Tours begin promptly at their designated time and cannot be held for late arrivals. Face masks must be worn and social distancing maintained. Tours will start in the courtyard and the ghost guide will take you through the different historical vignettes. All visitors must remain with the guide during the tour.
