Hot Chocolate Walk For Wishes® Supports Life-Changing Experiences for Local Children

Make-A-Wish Illinois Volunteers Host Family-Friendly Walk & Fundraiser  

WHO:     Make-A-Wish volunteers, supporters, wish families, and community members will come together to celebrate wish children and the holiday spirit as we come together in support of Make-A-Wish Illinois. 

WHAT:   The Hot Chocolate Walk for Wishes is a family-friendly event to benefit Make-A-Wish Illinois and its mission to create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. This inspiring celebration of hope features a scavenger hunt for children under 5, hot chocolate, incredible holiday displays, and heartfelt stories about the power of wishes in helping children cope with the traumatic stress of a critical illness.  Santa will visit the Walk from 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm and the Highland Music School will perform from 11:30 am -12:00 pm.

WHY:     Proceeds from this event benefit Make-A-Wish Illinois to create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Make-A-Wish Illinois plans to grant 650 wishes in the next year. For children with critical illnesses, the journey to hope and strength begins with a life-changing wish. The powerful results of the 2022 Wish Impact Study conducted by Make-A-Wish America add to a growing body of research — wish fulfillment promotes mental and emotional well-being for children and their families who are facing trauma stemming from a critical illness.

The Hot Chocolate Walk for Wishes is a way for community members to rally around their neighbors, classmates, and friends who have experienced a wish while making sure that children who have yet to be diagnosed have the opportunity for a life-changing wish journey.
