Molina Healthcare of Illinois, JJK Foundation, and Focus on the City to Host Annual East St. Louis Back to School Event

Molina Healthcare of Illinois is partnering with the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation and Focus on the City to present the annual East St. Louis Back to School Event. East St. Louis area K-12 students will receive school supplies, including clear and regular backpacks, community resources and additional giveaways. Additionally, health screenings, immunizations, back to school physicals, and dental screenings will be available. The event is open to the public.  

With a new school year quickly approaching, the average family is expected to spend $875 on back-to-school supplies. Additionally, August is National Immunization Month, serving as an important reminder for those returning to school to get up to date on their mandatory immunizations. Across Illinois, the number of under-vaccinated schools increased by 77% from 2019 to 2022. Molina hopes to equip local families with the resources they need to lead healthier, more fulfilling lives by bringing accessible health services to one location while easing the stress of back-to-school shopping. This initiative is just one component of Molina’s work to build stronger communities, one life at a time.??
