Bob Dylan Tribute

Wednesday, May 14 2025 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM @ Performance Room at Alton Square Mall | Alton, IL

About this event

Join us for an evening featuring renowned blues guitarist Steve Vogel and iconic singer-songwriter and storyteller Bob Case. Bob was influenced by Dylan in his early teens and saw Dylan as an example of what it meant to be an artist for his generation. Traveling through the South during the Folk Revival of the 60s, Bob learned directly from country blues artists Bukka White, Fury Lewis, Sleepy John Estes, and Mississippi Fred McDowell. Growing up in St. Louis on weekends, bluegrass and country music were everywhere to be found. Bob blended all these styles together, creating an understanding of roots music to build a musical career. Moving to Boston in the early 1970s, Bob hooked up with slide guitarist J.B. Hutto, playing bass, touring, and recording with J.B. on the 1980s W.C. Handy Blues award-winning album Keeper of The Flame. What Bob Case knows he learned directly from the artist who created it. During this time, Dylan’s music was a musical stew of traditional roots music, rock ‘n’ roll, country, gospel, and pop. Simultaneously, his song ideas addressed the perplexities of our time with questions and ideas that needed to be answered. Bob Dylan was a major influence on all of us!
