Alton has seen its share of disasters over the years, from natural to man-made. The city plans ahead to make sure there is a strategy in place before disaster strikes and approved a mitigation plan at last (Monday) night’s meeting.

Alton Mayor Brant Walker tells The Big Z the Madison County Multi-Jurisdictional All Hazards Mitigation Plan update is a document that gets updated every five years.

There are no changes to this update, according to Walker. The committee also approved items related to more property demolitions, and the closure of the Henry Street parking lot on November 21 for a turkey giveaway, as well as next year’s Farmers Market dates. The full council meets Wednesday at 6:30pm via teleconference.
