The Alton Memorial Day Parade is scheduled to step off for the 154th time at ten o' clock on May 31st. Organizers are moving ahead with planning the event, expecting the return of the full parade this year. Last year a small, unannounced procession traveled the route to keep the consecutive-years streak going.
Parade spokesman Steve Schwartz tells The Big Z while participants will likely be practicing pandemic safety, spectators will probably be on their own.

Schwartz says they are sending out notices to past participants to let them know of the plans. The Alton City Council is preparing to send word to IDOT of the need for road closures on portions of the state highways that utilize the route, something that must be done every year.
