The Alton Municipal Band will get to perform at Haskell Park this Sunday, August 2 at 7 pm. The band is thanking the Mayor and city officials for allowing access to the park, and to a few of its musicians willing to gather and perform for the local community and park neighbors.
Band members will be scattered across the concrete pad and into the grass near the Lucy Playhouse to assure proper social distancing during the performances. There will be a number of ensembles featured. Band spokesman Martha Roberts tells The Big Z they are already looking ahead to 2021.

Sunday’s hour-long program will kick off with the traditional playing of America the Beautiful and end with the Star-Spangled Banner; both typically done at regular season concerts. The Brass Quintet will play a variety of marches and pop tunes, and finish with Auld Lang Syne which is always performed at the final concert of the season.
