A car chase that started in South Roxana Tuesday night and ended in Bridgeton, Missouri has resulted in charges against a South Roxana man. Police say 19-year-old Bryce Reader of the 400 block of Sinclair in South Roxana fled after an attempted traffic stop, reaching speeds of 80 miles per hour while driving on the rims of the wheels.
He was driving on the rims after allegedly avoiding spike strips, trying to ram police vehicles, hitting speeds in excess of 100 mph while the tires were up, but eventually running over a second set of spike strips. Police in South Roxana originally tried to pull him over after being recognized in town while responding to the report of a stolen vehicle. Reader had an active felony warrant for Offenses Relating to Motor Vehicle and Failure to Comply with Drug Court. He is now facing new charges of Offenses Relating to Motor Vehicle, and two counts of Aggravated Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer. He is being held on a $100,000 bond.
