The St. Louis Area Better Business Bureau says home sales are through the roof during the COVID-19 pandemic, making home inspectors highly sought out. The BBB is warning residents to do their homework on their home inspector before hiring that person.
BBB Investigator Don O’Brien tells the Big Z, in Illinois those inspectors need a license, and there are resources to look up that information.

Both home inspectors and structural engineers in Illinois must be licensed by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. In Missouri, no such license is needed for home inspectors. The St. Louis area BBB says 467 complaints were filed regarding home inspection services in 2019.
