A pair of bid openings at this week’s Alton City Council meeting may be the first pieces of public knowledge relating to future development near the Amtrak Station, officially known as the Alton Regional MultiModal Transportation Center. While not naming names, Alton Mayor Brant Walker says one is for a hotel and the other is for a restaurant.

One bid was for an acre of property at $100,000, submitted by Jack Holdings LLC. The other was for about 3.5 acres at $350,000, submitted by Alton Hotels LLC.
