Pending approval of a Madison County Court judge, the Metro East Sanitary District will take over operation of the Chouteau, Nameoki, and Venice (CNV) Drainage and Levee District. The CNV district has voted to dissolve and transfer its property to MESD, which consists of a pump station just south of the Chain of Rocks Bridge, 23 parcels of land and approximately $6,000.

Prenzler says the CNV district has no outstanding debt and for years MESD provided drainage services. Most of the area within the district, located south of New Poag Road, is farmland.
