East Alton Police believe they know who led them and several other local police departments on a pursuit Thursday night. At about 11pm, Hartford Police officer called East Alton to advise them of a stolen vehicle heading northbound on Illinois Route 3. After a brief time on the Homer Adams Parkway, the car was seen on Illinois Route 140 near Gordon Moore Park.

East Alton Police Chief Darren Carlton says it was then two East Alton and a Wood River vehicle got behind the suspect vehicle and a low-to-medium speed pursuit ensued, heading toward the 140 / 255 interchange.

Police set up a perimeter complete with the Alton K9 and St. Louis County helicopter but were unable to locate the suspect. They did, however, speak to a female passenger in the car who Carlton says gave them information on who was driving, and they subsequently found the suspect’s identification in the vehicle. Charges are expected to be filed next week.
