The discussions between Alton and the federal government in hopes of getting federal reimbursement to help fix the wall and road at Riverview Drive are still inching along. The city is hoping to get FEMA to cover a portion of the cost to fix the wall and the surrounding area, saying it was extreme rains that caused the issues.
Alton Public Works Director Bob Barnhart tells The Big Z the FEMA process is slow, but still moving in the right direction.

He says the wall and surrounding area is checked regularly, and there has been no additional sliding of the soil which caused the wall to give in the first place.
